Clamping technology

Fribosa is no longer active — who is taking over service?

In brief:

For Fribosa service covering overhaul, repair, and spare parts, SPREITZER is now the central point of contact.

Overhaul: metrological inspection of parallelism and squareness, restoration of factory accuracy — with a free cost estimate in advance.
Repair: reconditioning of clamping jaws, spindles, and housings — even without original documentation.
Spare parts: replacement parts from our product range or made to measure.
Alternative: the EHS pull-down vise from our own production, if repair is no longer cost-effective.

The pull-down vises made by Fribosa AG are still in use today in toolmaking companies, in grinding shops, and on jig boring machines. The manufacturer no longer exists — the workholding devices keep working. As a result, there is no longer a point of contact for overhaul, repair, and spare parts. We are taking on that role.

What happens over the years

Parallelism and squareness change. The clamping surfaces wear, and the workpieces become inaccurate. The fault is often looked for in the machine first, not in the workholding device.
Individual parts fail. Clamping jaws, spindles, guideways. Without the manufacturer, you need someone who can reproduce the part.
Requirements change. A new machine, a different range of workpieces, automation — the existing workholding device no longer fits the concept.

What we offer for Fribosa workholding devices

Overhaul

We inspect parallelism and squareness with measuring equipment and restore factory accuracy. You receive a free cost estimate in advance — including an assessment of whether an overhaul is more cost-effective than a replacement.

Repair

We repair defective clamping jaws, spindles, or housings, even without drawings. Photos, the type designation on the unit, or a short phone call are enough as a starting point.

Spare parts

We supply clamping jaws, spindles, T-slot nuts, and other replacement parts from our product range or manufacture them to measure. A drawing, a dimensioned photo, or the original part for measurement is sufficient.

The alternative: EHS pull-down vise

If repair is no longer cost-effective, the EHS precision pull-down vise from our production replaces the existing workholding device. The pull-down system pulls the movable jaw downward during clamping and prevents the workpiece from lifting: no tapping down, no chatter. Both versions are through-hardened, precision-ground on all sides, and can be used on all four support surfaces — with 0.002 mm parallelism and 0.003 mm squareness.

Typical applications: grinding machines, jig boring machines, precision machines, and measuring and inspection rooms.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Fribosa vise be repaired without the original documentation?

Yes. We work from photos, the type designation on the unit, or the part you send in. Drawings from the original manufacturer are not required, because we design and manufacture the parts ourselves.

What does it cost to overhaul a precision vise?

That depends on its condition. You receive a free cost estimate in advance, which tells you whether an overhaul is more cost-effective than buying new.

Which EHS size replaces my Fribosa vise?

Sizes differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, so there is no general one-to-one match. Tell us the jaw width and required clamping range of your current vise — we will match you with the right version.

Are spare parts available for Fribosa workholding devices?

Yes. We supply suitable parts from our product range or manufacture them to measure if the original part is no longer available.

Keep an eye on your workholding devices

Are you using Fribosa workholding devices and unsure whether they are still working within tolerance? Send us a short description with a photo and the type designation — you will receive an assessment.
